Semaglutide Sublingual Drops
Rybelsus® tablets + SubMagna™ SL HMW + Natural Caramel Flavoring
High Cost and Drug Shortages Plague Current GLP-1 Rx options
The usage of GLP-1 receptor agonists has seen a lot of growth over the last couple of years. This drug class consists of several different injectable medications such as Mounjaro®, Wegovy®, and Ozempic®.
There is currently only one oral GLP-1 receptor agonist available on the market called Rybelsus®.
These tablets, when swallowed whole, as recommended by the manufacturer, have an extremely low absorption rate (less than 1% per the labeling for Rybelsus®).
Many patients have been unable to obtain these medications, primarily due to drug shortages and cost. Other patients would simply prefer to avoid injections if possible.
For these reasons, prescribers and patients may prefer to explore an Rx compounded formulation of semaglutide for sublingual administration.
New Sublingual Vehicle: Game Changer
An innovative new base called SubMagna™ SL HMW was developed in early 2024.
This oil-based vehicle was designed specifically to enhance the delivery of high molecular-weight (HMW) medications, such as semaglutide, through the mucosal lining of the mouth, into the bloodstream.
Recent in vitro tissue models suggest that SubMagna™ SL HMW is able to deliver peptides (such as semaglutide) into and through human gingival and oral tissue.
Custom Rx Semaglutide Sublingual Drops
SubMagna™ SL HMW can be combined with just two other high-quality ingredients: Rybelsus® (semaglutide) tablets and Natural caramel flavoring to create a compounded sublingual option for patients.
